Who is Maxim Velčovský

 

MgA. Maxim Velčovský (1976) 

Maxim Velčovský studied the Academy of Arts, Architecture & Design in Prague in the Ceramics and Porcelain Studio. 

In 2002, together with Jakub Berdych, he established Qubus design studio, since 2011 Maxim Velčovský also work as the Head of the Ceramics and Porcelain Studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture & Design and as a creative director of the company Lasvit. His works are in the collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, Centre Pompidou in Paris, Mudac Lausanne, Neue Sammlung in Munich, Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague and the Moravian Gallery in Brno. His portfolio includes some concepts for private galleries, as well as some works for multinational corporations.

The work of Maxim Velčovský was included by Marcus Fiirs into the publication Twenty-First Century Design. In 2006, Maxim Velčovský became the first Czech designer to feature the front cover of the British magazine Icon and in 2007, he was chosen in the publication & fork among the 100 most interesting young product designers of the last five years. In 2007, the Academy Czech Grand Design named him the Designer of the Year and in 2008, his installation for the company Lobmeyr got the award for the project of the year from the magazine Wallpaper.
